The Design & Fabrication Process

The design process took more than a year.  This was because it involved widespread consultation & many participants as Mick Orr explained:

'From an encyclopaedic wealth of material, the content of the Exhibits was pared down with the invaluable help and enthusiasm of Park's founders and trustees, members of the Betjeman Society and especially the assistance of Bevis Hillier (President), Dr David Pattison (Chairman) and John Murray (Publisher).  Members of the Wantage Branch of that Society (acknowledged in the People section of this web-site) were intimately involved.  Many copyright permissions needed to be sought, in particular from the Betjeman Estate'.

The Park's Trustees gratefully acknowledge all of this assistance.

Once the designs for the Exhibits had been completed, fabrication was undertaken in the workshops of Mercury Phillips.  A highly durable laminate was used for the purpose, along with stainless steel frames.
